This place is written as [フレペの滝] in Japanese.
There is no river with this fall. Melting snow becomes water flowing underground from Shiretoko mountain range, which is flowing from cracks of 100 height cliff. It looks like tears, so that people call the fall ‘Tears of young girl’.
You can access from Shiretoko Nature Center by walking or from sea by Shiretoko cruising.
Behind the Shiretoko Nature Center, this area can be explored even in winter. You’ll often see Ezo deer around the parking lot, making you truly feel immersed in nature. Of course, Higuma bears are also present, so be sure to exercise caution.
