Hakodate Episcopal Church of Japan (函館聖ヨハネ教会) is located next to the Hakodate Orthodox Church (函館ハリストス教会) on Daisansaka slope. Founded in 1874 by Reverend Denning, it belongs to the Anglican Communion. The church’s architecture is notable for its white walls and brown cross-shaped roof. Over the years, successive priests have made significant efforts to establish schools and hospitals.
