Jigoku (地獄) means hell and Dani/Tani (谷) means valley. This place is literally a “Valley of Hell.” It is a crater located in Noboribetsu City, one of the most famous hot spring resorts not only in Hokkaido but also in Japan. There is a circular walking path, 600 meters in length, which is open from May to November and closed during winter.
