Koryu-ji Temple in Hakodate(高龍寺)
Koryu-ji Temple (高龍寺) is situated at the foot of Mt. Hakodate, near Hakodate Fishing Port on the northwest side of the mountain. As the oldest existing temple in Hakodate, Koryu-ji is renowned for its magnificent main gate and holds significant historical value, designated as a National Cultural Property. Originally founded in Kameda, north of JR Hakodate Station by Banshitsu-Horyu, the fourth chief priest of Hogen-ji in Matsumae, the temple relocated to its current site in 1879.
