Kotoni Shrine (琴似神社) is located in the Kotoni area west of Sapporo. Established in 1870 with a gift from Watari Date, a feudal lord of Sendai-han, the shrine was initially named Takehaya Shrine in 1875 before being renamed Kotoni Shrine in 1897. It has been a cherished local landmark for over 140 years. While not large in size, Kotoni Shrine is known for its serene beauty. A visit to Kotoni should include a stop here.
