The Pacific Music Festival (PMF) is held annually in Sapporo from July to August. Founded by Leonard Bernstein in 1990, it has become a prestigious international classical music festival. Renowned principals and performers from major orchestras worldwide gather here to mentor young musicians selected through auditions over a four-week period.
The main venue for PMF is the Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara, where principal concerts are held. Additionally, there are free concerts held in Odori Park and Sapporo Art Park, offering the public a chance to enjoy classical music in outdoor settings. PMF serves as a significant cultural event, fostering musical excellence and collaboration on a global scale.
