The old red brick buildings of the Sapporo Factory evoke the historical essence of a factory. Originally, in 1876, Hokkaido Kaitakushi, the former government of HokkaidÅ prefecture, planned the construction of a brewery on this site. This location later became the Sapporo Beer Company factory. Today, the Sapporo Factory consists of seven distinct areas: Ichi-Jo-kan (N1Jo-Street building), Ni-Jo-kan (N2Jo-Street building), San-Jo-kan (N3Jo-Street building), the Atrium (a large event hall), Renga-kan (the red brick building), Frontier-kan (Frontier building), and Nishi-kan (West building).
