Enjoying Sankai Falls in the Upper Reaches of the Osaru River near Kitayuzawa, 8 November 2022
On the way from Kitayuzawa to Lake Shikotsu, heading north, you will find Sankai Falls. The clear waters of the Osaru River flow along National Route 453, and Sankai Falls is located on its tributary, the Sankai River. Along the way, turn right onto Route 86, and you will soon see a parking lot. Be sure to stop and enjoy the waterfall with the backdrop of autumn foliage. Additionally, if you cross the bridge over the waterfall, you will find "Kanro Housui," a natural spring. "Kanro" means sweet, and true to its name, this sweet water is loved by many enthusiasts.
