Hiking Mt. Haku-un-zan usually takes between 2.5 to 3.5 hours. In early winter, there isn't much snow on the trail, but you will need crampons. This is a habitat for higuma bears, but they should be hibernating. The slope is not too steep, making the hike to the summit relatively easy. At the top, you will encounter many large rocks; be cautious, as they can be very slippery.
